Mrs. Ishrat Islam
Principal
Mrs. Islam has been a dedicated member of Al-Amal School since 1997. Over the past 28 years, she has served in many impactful roles while continuing as a full-time Language Arts teacher for middle and high school students. Her leadership has been instrumental as chairperson of the COGNIA accreditation committee since 2008, guiding the school through four successful accreditation cycles. She has also contributed as a lead teacher and mentor, overseeing training and curriculum review, as PSEO Coordinator, National Honor Society Adviser, and organizer of school-wide events such as book fairs and spelling bees. Most recently, she led the school through another successful reaccreditation cycle with COGNIA, further strengthening Al-Amal’s commitment to excellence.
Mrs. Islam holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Political Science, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Human Resources.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Islam treasures her family life. She is blessed with two sons and a beloved 18‑month‑old grandson, who has quickly become her greatest joy. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading historical fiction and nonfiction. Her favorite pastime now is spending cherished moments with her grandson.

Mr. Omar Abdi Ali
Vice Principal
Br. Omar Ali has been part of Al-Amal School since 2010, serving as an Islamic Studies teacher for ten years. After a short break to complete his degree and licensure in educational leadership, he returned to the school as Vice Principal. Mr. Ali holds a B.A. in psychology, an M.S. in educational leadership, and a M.A. in Islamic studies. He also obtained Certification (Ijazah) in Qira'at, Tafsir, Hadith, and other Islamic subjects by several renowned scholars.

Mr. Aden Hussein
Finance & Building Manager
Mr. Aden Hussein has been a valued member of the Administrative Team since 2016. Originally from Kismayo, Somalia, he now resides in Minnesota.
Mr. Hussein brings more than 35 years of experience in the financial sector. Before immigrating to the United States, he held leadership roles with the Commercial Bank of Somalia, including Vice Chairman of the Loan Recovery Committee for the Lower and Middle Juba regions and Chief Accountant for the Jilib Branch. He later served as CEO of A and H Associates Inc. in Minnesota.
Mr. Hussein has remained engaged with community development efforts in Somalia, contributing to peace initiatives in the Jubaland region and supporting humanitarian and civic-rebuilding projects. He is also the author of Jubba Land History: Waamo Awakening in Somali Political Crisis (2005).
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and also studied at the University of Massachusetts. From 2016 to 2020, he served on the Minnesota Gifted and Talented Advisory Council.
