Al-hamdulillah. Great News! Al-amal School has received accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school was admitted to membership on April 3, 2001, at the Association’s annual meeting, held in Chicago. Dr. Salah Ayari, Principal of Al-amal School, attended the meeting.

“Accreditation by the NCA means that the school has met the standards set for membership,” said Principal Salah Ayari. “These standards signify that the school has the resources, personnel, and leadership necessary for effective education.”

Accreditation must be renewed each year. In commenting upon this, Chairman of the board, Dr Omar Al-Saadoon, noted that: “Continuation within the NCA requires a joint effort by the community and the staff to make certain that the potential for quality education remains unimpaired. NCA membership assures the Muslim community in Minnesota and the public at large that the school has met standards which good schools in the NCA region consider to be imperative for effective education and that it is working to improve performance for all students.”

The North Central Association (www.ncacasi.org), the nation’s largest and oldest regional accreditation association, is a voluntary coalition of over 8,800 schools and over 1,000 colleges and universities in the 19-state region of the central United States. The Association works with schools to improve the quality of education through a continuous process of accreditation and school improvement.

What Are The Benefits of NCA?

1.  NCA accreditation provides widely recognized credibility for schools and their graduates. Accreditation provides outside validation  that resources, facilities, and procedures are of high quality.

2.  NCA standards provide a yardstick against which the public can measure its support of its schools. The standards describe the minimal resources a school needs to develop a quality program; therefore, when a school becomes accredited , the community knows that it is providing the school with the potentially for a good program.

3.  Membership represents to others educational institutions, prospective students, legislators, alumni and the general public recognition of the quality of a school program.

4.  Accreditation assures the public that the school program and organization will undergo periodically an intensive self-study by the staff and review by educators who are not affiliated with the school.

5.  Accreditation provides public notice that the school staff and the school district are committed to quality education, are willing to be measured against standards, are willing to engage in school improvement activities, and in the future, are willing to assist other schools that are seeking quality education.
